What’s New With Hugh             This page was last updated 6/9/17.

After a very rainy, cool May, the weather is finally showing signs of summer. The months since my last entry here have been busy. In addition to my monthly visits to early childhood programs in the Boston area, I did a brief tour in late March that took me to the Hamden Early Learning Program in Hamden, CT, to St. David’s Episcopal Day School in Wilmington, DE, and to St. Christopher’s Day School in Gladwyne, PA. to sing with children and teachers. I also met with teachers who gathered at St. Luke’s Day School in Alexandria, VA to present a workshop, Songs for Circle Time….or Any Time. This tour of the Mid-Atlantic States has become a yearly event in my schedule, and I’m planning a repeat trip in March of 2018 on my way to and from the VAAEYC Conference in Fredericksburg, VA.

In late April I attended the annual conference of the Children’s Music Network’s NorthEast Region. CMN is a national organization of children’s musicians, parents, and early childhood educators. It was a great opportunity to see old friends, meet new folks, and share music activities and ideas, and “compare notes”. This year’s national conference which draws members from across the US and Canada will be held in Hyannis, MA in October. CMN welcomes anyone, both professionals and enthusiasts, interested in connecting with others who want to bring music and musical play into the lives of children and their families and schools. Please visit childrensmusic.org for more information.

Rusty Brough and I finished editing the latest season of Songs from the Circle, our television show produced at ACMi, the community access cable station here in Arlington, MA. We also edited two concert programs with children and parents that were recorded at the studio. These shows and concerts, as well as those from past seasons will soon be available for viewing on my YouTube channel. More details to follow here, as soon as we get things up and running. Rusty and I are planning another eight installments in the up-coming 2017/18 season with the children and teachers from Another Place To Grow.

As you can see from my schedule below, I’ll be busy this summer with visits to libraries in Eastern Massachusetts for family concerts. I hope that our paths will cross; be sure to say hello.

Keep singing!
